It's been an eventful week for Sutton United

National League: One can’t help but feel how their recently-resigned reserve goalkeeper Wayne Shaw will feel upon hearing this? He enjoyed his 15 minutes earlier this week after letting a certain tabloid newspaper and their betting associates make a complete fool of him and has now missed out on a rare playing opportunity.

GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Swansea City (Pedro)

It’s a good decision – West Brom continue to lead 2-1 against Bournemouth.

A chance for Sunderland

Premier League: Sunderland have a penalty appeal turn down and Adnan Januzaj misses a shot from distance after a bright start to the second half for Sunderland against Everton. They continue to trail by the only goal of the game.

A Bristol City fan writes ...

From Steven Hughes: “The Bristol City manager, Lee Johnson, has already lost much of the crowd, having lost 10 of the last 13 league games, and Wednesday’s home defeat against Fulham was abject nonsense, a real nadir,” he says. “So, for some of the fans there today, and those listening on the radio, they’ll actually be groaning inside if City come away with all three points as it’ll prolong the agony of having Johnson running the shop.”

Thanks for the informative and interesting inside line, Steven. Football fans, eh? Unhappy when they’re losing and unhappy when they’re winning away at the league leaders. If what Steven says is true, it’ll be a long and miserable journey back to Bristol for those lads and lassies whatever the outcome at St James’s Park. I’d say they’ll take the win, mind.

It’s his first goal for Everton and leaves Sunderland’s players in all sorts of bother after their well earned week-long jolly-up in New York. The other Sunderland staff who, it was recently announced, will soon be facing redundancy, will be thrilled to see their representatives on the pitch doing so well.

Kasper Schmeichel speaks ...

Interviewed by Sky Sports News, the Leicester City goalkeeper says he is “very hurt” by accusations that he and other senior players undermined Claudio Ranieri and tried to get him ousted. Interestingly, he doesn’t deny the accusations, despite being given ample opportunity to do so. In fact he refuses to deny them on four different occasions. Instead, he keeps saying that he and his fellow senior players have “no influence” over the owners. Nice try, Kasper.

Greetings sports fans ...

At the end of an eventful, entertaining and controversial week on and off the pitch, it’s a big weekend for several Premier League clubs. Having knifed their manager between the shoulder-blades, Leicester City’s players have until Monday night, when they play Liverpool, to think about what they’ve done. They could find themselves deeper in the relegation mire by then, with several of their fellow strugglers going toe to toe this afternoon in some intriguing battles.

In a reduced fixture list because of tomorrow’s League Cup final, table-toppers Chelsea entertain resurgent Swansea, while Hull and Burnley meet at the KCOM Stadium. Bottom-dwellers Sunderland face a difficult trip to Everton, while Bournemouth must try to arrest their slide down the table by getting a result at the Hawthorns. Selhurst Park plays host to another six-pointer, where Crystal Palace entertain Middlesbrough. Stay with us up for team news and build-up, followed by news of all the goals as they go in around the grounds.
