Chelsea transfer trick could solve midfield issues as they prepare for Barcelona duo strike

The January transfer window is officially open. Chelsea fans, it’s time to assemble.

It’s been a long time coming, and there have not been many answers given to us. Will Chelsea buy a new left-back? Will our centre-backs sign agreements with other clubs? Will Chelsea go in for a new right-back, or will they wait for Reece James’ return?

I, for one, have never been so anxious to hear these answers.

Barcelona has come calling for Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta. Real Madrid has also been in contact with Antonio Rudiger. While all this is happening, Chelsea will need to look to the transfer window for new alternatives.

One thing is for sure; there is no money to focus on that defensive midfielder that I so longed for.

How about a Billy Gilmour recall?

Thomas Tuchel has not confirmed whether or not he will recall Gilmour back from his loan spell at Norwich. However, all the signs seem to be pointing that way. Chelsea previously suffered when Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante picked up injuries which meant Jorginho had to play through injury due to a lack of options.

During his press conference, the Chelsea boss got asked about the possibility of recalling the Scotsman, to which he replied,

"To be very, very honest. I have not thought about it yet. It is not a subject between these matches now.

"We have not had a whole week to discuss these things, so maybe we need to do it right after Liverpool. I haven't discussed it yet, and I don't honestly have a clear opinion on it right now."

I guess this is fair enough, but again we haven't had any answers yet, and the squad's health is becoming a concern for the fans.

It would be an understatement to say it's been a bumpy road at Norwich. Gilmour doesn't seem to have impressed the Norwich fans despite impressing the nation with his performances in the European Championships last summer. Former manager Daniel Farke iced him out whilst current manager Dean Smith had faith in the youngster.

Following their 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, Norwich fans sang absurd, disrespectful lyrics at Gilmour, claiming he should return to Chelsea. - We were trying to do you a favour, Norwich fans! We’d happily take him back, thank you.

The absolute cheek.

The 20-year-old should be in an environment where he is wanted and needed. Right now, Chelsea could do with a talented midfielder that can dictate and hold just as well as the others. Gilmour is the best fit and our player! What are we waiting for?

Bring Gilmour home.
