Chelsea transfer target Philippe Coutinho may have played last game for Bayern with Barcelona future uncertain

Philippe Coutinho may have played his last game for Bayern Munich after an injury setback which is expected to see him sidelined for six weeks.

The on-loan Barcelona midfielder, who has been linked with a summer switch to Chelsea, underwent surgery on his ankle at the end of last month and was due back in two weeks.

However, the Brazilian has suffered a setback and is now set to be out of action for another month and a half.

Bayern are scheduled to visit Union Berlin on Sunday as the Bundesliga restarts this week after a lengthy absence due to coronavirus, but Coutinho will not be able to feature.

The 27-year-old might be available for the Champions League if that competition is extended deep into the summer, with Bayern 3-0 up against Chelsea after one leg of the teams' last-16 tie.

Coutinho's future is also up in the air, with Bayern unwilling to take up their €120million option to buy the former Liverpool midfielder, who could now be given a second chance at Barca under Quique Setien.
