Chelsea transfer scouts watch Alexander Isak as Blues eye 'new Zlatan Ibrahimovic'

Chelsea are tracking Borussia Dortmund's Alexander Isak, the teenage Swedish striker being hailed as the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Isak, 19, is currently on-loan at Dutch club Willem II – and the Blues had him watched in last night's clash with Ajax in Tilburg.

He has scored 11 goals in 11 games since moving to Holland.

And his brilliant first touch and nimble footwork has seen the 6ft 3ins forward compared to Swedish legend Ibra.

Stockholm-born Isak was nicknamed 'Giraffe” when he was coming through the ranks at hometown club AIK because of his rangy build and long neck.

He was being watched by a host of clubs that included Real Madrid before Dortmund paid £14million for him in January 2017.

But his chances of impressing in the Bundesliga have been limited, prompting Dortmund to loan Isak to Willem II in the New Year.

The striker wasn't happy with the move - but he has hit the goal trail in spectacular fashion in Holland.

Chelsea are in the market for a young striker after bringing in 31-year-old Gonzalo Higuain on loan from Juventus in January in a deal which includes an option to make the move permanent.

Madrid have continued to watch Isak's development and are likely to rival the Stamford Bridge club if Dortmund show a willingness to sell.

Isak's parents are from Eritrea, but he has already won four caps for Sweden.

Isak believes he's heading for the very top.

He said: “I want to play for a really big club in a big league. I will see about my near future at the end of this season.”

Chelsea have already concluded business with Dortmund for the signature of highly-rated USA international Christian Pulisic.

The forward will join the Blues officially this summer after his £57million transfer was confirmed last January.
