Chelsea transfer rumours: Thiago Silva to return to Brazil, Haaland value soars, Alonso exit

Chelsea's season has been going from bad to worse and former Blues striker Tony Cascarino does not think the board will be keen on supporting Frank Lampard again in the transfer market after splashing more than £200m on new signing last summer.

The Blues have struggled this season so Lampard is sure to want reinforcements, but it looks like there will be exits before any incomings.

Most players the Chelsea board are reported to be interested in are more likely to be summer arrivals than imminent ones

With that in mind, join us below as we round up all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Thiago Silva

Brazilian defender Thiago Silva has settled into life at Stamford Bridge but the Fluminense manager Marcão has spoken on a video released this week on YouTube channel Pilhado about Silva's future.

Marcão said : "I’m sure that we’ll have the captain here with us. We’ll do everything to bring the captain. He wants it a lot.”

Frank Lampard will not want to lose his experienced defender and there is no suggestion that this move is likely to happen in the immediate future. It does, however, suggest a long term solution to the centre-back position will be needed sooner rather than later.

Is Upamecano the solution?

Once such answer to the centre-back issue could come in the form of French defender Dayot Upamecano.

As football.london reported on Wednesday Chelsea would be able to offer the French international his favourite number were he to sign, but interest in the RB Leipzig man is high

The Guardian. have reported that Upamecano is on the watchlist of a number of top European clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich, as well as Chelsea.

The German side are not keen on letting the centre-back move this transfer window but he could be available for €42million (£37.4m) in the summer.

Alonso exit

Italian website Sempremilan are reporting that Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso could soon be back in his native Spain with Catalan giants Barcelona looking for a replacement for AC Milan bound Junior Firpo.

Barcelona have lined up Alonso as the perfect replacement for Firpo but must ensure the young Spaniard exits the club before making their move for the Chelsea man.

Haaland price hike

In-demand Norwegian star Erling Braut Haaland has a release clause for a reported £63m, however, this is not in play until the summer of 2022.

If Chelsea or any of the many other interested clubs want to bring Haaland in before this date they will have to go a lot higher than that.

The current figure Dortmund are said to be looking for is in the region of €100million (£88.5m) if Chelsea want their man it looks like they will have to pay a club-record price for the 20-year-old
