Chelsea transfer rumours: Ruben Loftus-Cheek makes statement on future, Timo Werner frustration

Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours for Monday, October 26.

Loftus-Cheek future

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek says he envisages a future at Stamford Bridge despite requesting a loan move ahead of his temporary switch to Fulham this season.

“I was the one who initiated it," he told The Sun. "I felt like it was paramount that I played a lot of football this season.

“With the strength in depth at Chelsea and how I was feeling, I was not sure being out for so long that when I had the opportunity that I could play fantastically and hold down a place in the starting XI.

Frank Lampard says Maguire tackle was a "clear penalty"

"I was not 100 per cent I could do that, because I need to build my confidence back up. That was basically the theme of the chat. The gaffer agreed on that and things went on from there.”

“I still see my future at Chelsea. I believe in my ability 100 per cent. This is obviously not a permanent move. This is a platform for me to go and express myself and find that form that was showing a couple of seasons ago. I believe in my ability, and we will see where that takes me.”

Hudson feels sorry for Werner

Former Chelsea midfielder Alan Hudson says he feels sorry for Timo Werner.

“They were both disappointing because this defensive formula was foreign to them," he told CaughtOffside of Werner and the German's fellow summer signing Kai Havertz. "They are both forward thinking players and they must be thinking ‘How many do we have to score to win?’

“I feel sorry for Werner in particular, because he’s making some great runs but not being picked out or spotted. If that continues he might stop making them. I watched him against Southampton and for the last goal his head went down as much as to say ‘What have I got to do to be on a winning side?’ Almost every goal he has scored he has had to create himself which tells a story alone.

“It’s like Mane and Salah at Liverpool – if they make runs they get the ball, because that is how Klopp wants the team to perform going forward. Even after losing 7-2 (to Aston Villa) he hasn’t stopped playing the way that won them the Champions League and Premier League, and Frank is nowhere near that level of thinking.

"He continues to make excuses for mistakes from experienced players who are guilty of such defensive blunders."

Lamptey set for new contract

Former Chelsea youngster Tariq Lamptey is set for a new contract at Brighton.

The 20-year-old wing-back has been excellent since his move to Brighton earlier this year, perhaps leaving Chelsea regretting the decision to allow him to leave.

And Lamptey now looks set to pen a new contract at the AMEX Stadium with Football Insider claiming Brighton will offer him a big new pay rise.

They say the Seagulls are keen to offer the new contract to ensure Lamptey is recognised as a 'key player'.

The youngster has made 13 league appearances for Brighton to-date.
