Chelsea transfer rumours: Newcastle's Fikayo Tomori move, Man United want Denis Zakaria

We are a little over two months away from the January transfer window opening.

Whilst the domestic transfer window only shut a week ago, the quick turnaround gives clubs a fresh opportunity to target any signings they failed to land.

With that in mind, here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Man United join Zakaria race

Sport Bild's Christian Falk report that Manchester United have entered the race to sign Denis Zakaria.

The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder has already been linked with a move to Chelsea following a string of fine performances.

A January bid is reportedly being contemplated for the 23-year-old but the Premier League duo will also face competition from European champions Bayern Munich.

The Swiss international moved to Gladbach from Young Boys in 2017, with Bayern's interest said to stretch back to May.

Juve's Marcos Alonso decision

Calciomercato have revealed why Marcos Alonso did not move to Juventus in the summer.

Alonso was heavily linked with a move to Turin but, despite the rumours, it appears the Old Lady were never that serious about landing him.

Juve are said to have opted against pursuing the Spanish defender due to the money that would be involved in a deal to sign him.

With Alonso not Juve's first-choice defender in the summer, they took a dim view to trying to get close to what he currently earns at Stamford Bridge.

Declan Rice boost

Fabrizio Romano says Declan Rice is still keen on a move to Chelsea.

The England international was one of the Blues' top targets this summer but instead stayed at West Ham.

Recent reports suggest the Hammers are keen to give Rice a new contract but he is said to still be thinking of a move to Chelsea.

It means the Blues may renew their interest in January or wait until next summer before launching a bid.

Newcastle wanted Tomori

The Athletic report that Newcastle United looked into signing Fikayo Tomori on loan in the summer.

Newcastle were set to take Rob Holding on loan from Arsenal but that deal fell through, leaving them looking for a new centre-back.

Tomori, along with Manchester United's Phil Jones, were both looked at as potential loan options.

West Ham agreed a late deal to take Tomori on loan but the defender opted against the switch.
