Blues face player exodus
Timo Werner looks set to join Chelsea this summer with the Europa League holders set to activate the striker’s £54million release clause at RB Leipzig.
The German international has been free-scoring in the Bundesliga this season and looks set to be the second significant addition to Frank Lampard’s ranks following the signing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.
The Blues are hopeful of continuing their recruitment this summer with Ben Chilwell among those linked, with the club expected to receive £48.5million from Atletico Madrid for Alvaro Morata.
As outlined by the Daily Star, there are also set to be a number of exits from Stamford Bridge.
Kurt Zouma is likely set to leave the club having been involved in just two of the club’s last eight league games and could interest Tottenham.
The report adds that Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, Michy Batshuayi, Davide Zappacosta and Tiemoue Bakayoko may be among those to leave the club this summer, with Real Madrid also expected to bid for N’Golo Kante.
Fiorentina hint at Chiesa exit
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Fiorentina winger and Italy international Federico Chiesa with the Serie A side now hinting at a summer exit.
The 22-year-old has been linked to a host of clubs with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham also previously linked to his signature, along with the Blues.
“If Chiesa wants, then he can leave, but only for the figure that we set,” Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso told a press conference, as cited by Football Italia. “It’s a different matter for Gaetano Castrovilli, as he told me that he wants to remain in Florence. If Chiesa does go, then Castrovilli can have the Number 10 jersey.”
Chiesa is out of contract in Florence in 2022 and Fiorentina may decide to cash-in on the star this summer.
Battle for Chilwell
Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell is high on Chelsea’s wanted list this summer but his signing will be a battle, according to a report in the Mirror.
The left-back is said to have a price tag of £80million while clubs from Italy and Spain are also interested in his signing, complicating any move from the Blues.
Chelsea have already secured the signing of Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech this summer and are said to be closing in on RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Chilwell is said to be among one of Frank Lampard’s most wanted signings with the futures of Emerson Palmeiri and Marcos Alonso at Stamford Bridge both said to be in doubt.
