Chelsea transfer rumours: Kai Havertz stance, Kepa replacement eyed, Thiago Silva talks

Chelsea’s ambition in this summer’s transfer market is very clear - they want to get closer to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City next summer.

The Blues appear to be on the brink of signing one or two more players, as well as Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, who have already signed.

Frank Lampard will be determined to build on an impressive start to life as Chelsea boss, finishing in the top-four despite not being able to sign players last summer.

The ultimate lowdown on Thiago Silva

However, it’s a very different story this time around, and Lampard is wasting no time - here are the very latest Chelsea-related transfer stories from this morning.

Havertz price tag

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has reiterated that Chelsea must pay up to land Kai Havertz.

The two clubs have been locked in negotiations over Havertz for over a week after months of speculation over the playmaker's future.

"There is nothing new in this regard, and we are still very relaxed about it," he told Buzzer. "Of course, we would be very happy if he stayed for another year. It is clear that the departure of such a player, despite the high transfer fee, always means a loss - see Leipzig and [Timo] Werner.

"In times of corona, it may actually be that the transfer fees have decreased for many players.

"But corona or no corona, this is not the case with exceptional players like Havertz or Jadon Sancho. There is no corona discount for them.

"What makes Kai Havertz so interesting is the fact that he embodies world-class in four or five positions."

Thiago Silva interest

Chelsea FC could make a surprise bid to sign veteran Brazil defender Thiago Silva in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Chelsea FC have been holding talks with the 35-year-old centre-half about a move to the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer.

The report states the Blues' biggest rivals in the race to sign the former AC Milan defender are Fiorentina.

Kepa replacement

Chelsea are lining up a bid to sign Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.

French media outlet Le10 Sport is reporting that the Blues are interested in the Lille shot-stopper to replace the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

The report adds that Lille are braced for the France Under-21 international’s potential exit given that the Ligue 1 side are lining up a bid for Saint-Etienne shot-stopper Stephane Ruffer.

The Lille shot-stopper made 28 appearances to help the French side finish in fourth place in Ligue 1 last season.
