Chelsea transfer rumours: Emerson revelation, Juan Musso interest, double defender exit

Chelsea's brilliant start to the season has supporters in high spirits as we enter the hectic Christmas fixture schedule.

But with January 4 on the horizon, and the mid-season transfer window opening, Frank Lampard could turn his attention to the market.

The Blues recruited very well in the summer window, but if rumours are to be believed, then Lampard and Roman Abramovich could keep an eye on the goings on in January.

In light of this, we have the very latest transfer news and rumours on Chelsea.

Emerson set to leave

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri is expected to leave Stamford Bridge soon, according to Sky Italia's Luca Marchetti per Sport Witness.

Emerson has been heavily linked with a move away from the Blues over the last few months. The left-back is far down the pecking order, with Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso both preferred by Lampard.

Speaking to Marte, Marchetti said: "Do Napoli have a chance to catch Emerson Palmieri in January? Yes, without a doubt.

“Emerson Palmieri can also come away for free, according to Chelsea’s ideas, but the boy wouldn’t come to Italy for free: he must be paid and space is needed for his large salary. That said, it should also be reiterated that Napoli, in Serie A, are the most solid club in terms of financial statements.”

Blues remain interested in Musso

Chelsea remain interested in Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso despite Edouard Mendy's form since arriving to the west London-based club.

Mendy was signed from Rennes over the summer, and the 28-year-old has received numerous plaudits for his performances for Lampard's side.

However, the Blues are still interested in Musso, according to Mundo Udinese, who are claiming that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are 'testing the waters' over the shot-stopper.

Musso was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge back in March, but this report states that he is still on Lampard's radar.

Blues open to double defender exit

Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for defensive duo Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori in January, according to ESPN.

Both centre-backs came close to leaving the Blues in the summer, with Tottenham and West Ham reportedly keen on Rudiger, whilst Everton wanted Tomori.

But both of these deals ended up collapsing and now Lampard has an abundance of central defensive options to choose from. The report from ESPN claims that the Chelsea boss is keen to reduce that when the mid-season window opens and could listen to loan offers for the pair.
