Chelsea transfer rumours: Emerson Palmieri update, Tottenham attempt at double deal

We're now almost halfway through the two-week international break, with Chelsea back in action next Saturday against Newcastle United.

The Blues came from a goal behind to cruise past Sheffield United prior to the international break.

With each passing game, the host of new signings for Frank Lampard continue to grow in confidence.

Due to the success so far of the summer transfer window, Lampard could be tempted to dive into the market once again in January. Here are the latest transfer stories on Chelsea.

Emerson provides update on future

Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri is still unsure over his future at the club amid links away from Stamford Bridge.

Emerson has been heavily linked with a move away from the Blues, with Inter Milan and Juventus reportedly interested in the Italian defender's services.

Talking to TMW (via The Focus ), Emerson said: “We have to wait. Football this year is a bit strange, so is the transfer market. Unfortunately I am not playing much at Chelsea, but I am calm and I think things will improve, in London or elsewhere.

“I received interest, not only from Italy. Nothing concrete , but obviously I’d love to return to Serie A. I do not know if it will happen in January or in five years, I can’t say. In football everything changes too quickly.”

Giroud seen as "low-cost" signing

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is seen as a "low-cost" signing by Italian giants Inter Milan, according to Calciomercato (via Sport Witness ).

The Italian outleit claims that Inter have been keen on signing the Blues forward over the past two transfer windows.

However, a deal for the France 2018 World Cup-winner has not materialised yet, but they could try again in January.

With Giroud set to be in the final few months of his Chelsea contract, Inter see the Frenchman as a "low-cost" signing.

Spurs tried for Chelsea duo

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho tried to bring Blues duo Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger to Tottenham Hotspur over the summer.

Spurs ended up signing Joe Rodon late on in the domestic-only transfer window from Swansea City, after failing on Lampard's defensive duo.

The Daily Mail reported Rudiger was on the verge of joining Mourinho's side on a loan deal, and L'Equipe also claim that Spurs wanted Zouma, but had an offer turned down.

Zouma has formed a solid centre-back partnership with Thiago Silva in the opening games of the Premier League season, meaning Chelsea would be very unlikely to let him leave Stamford Bridge.
