Chelsea transfer rumours: Contact made over £13.5m Thiago Silva replacement, David Alaba latest

With the January transfer window now open, Chelsea and Frank Lampard could be tempted to dive into the market to strengthen the squad.

The Blues have disappointed in recent weeks and Lampard may be keeping his eye out for some potential signings this month.

As well as this, the west London club may look to sell or loan some unneeded members of the squad.

With that said, here are the latest Chelsea-related transfer rumours and stories.

Chelsea vs Man City match stats preview

Simakan 'contact'

According to Le10 Sport, Chelsea have made contact with Strasbourg over a move for Mohamed Simakan, with Lampard looking for a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva.

Silva, who is 36-years-old, has been excellent for the Blues since signing in the summer, but his manager is still preparing for life without him.

Now, Chelsea have reportedly contacted French club Strasbourg over signing their £13.5million-rated central defender Simakan.

The 20-year-old is a first-team regular for the Ligue 1 side, playing 17 times already during the 2020/21 season.

Alaba set to join Madrid

Bayern Munich defender and reported Chelsea target David Alaba is set to join Real Madrid in the summer, according to Marca.

Alaba's contract at the Allianz Arena is due to expire in the summer and the Austria international is now close to moving to Spain.

The report claims that Los Blancos are close to finalising a deal for the 28-year-old and want to get it done as soon as possible to avoid competition for his signature.

Alaba's "dream move" is signing for Madrid, but nothing is officially done yet, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Napoli look for Emerson loan

Italian club Napoli are looking to complete a loan move for Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian defender is currently Lampard's second choice left-sided defensive option, with Ben Chilwell continuing to impress in the role.

Marcos Alonso has dropped below Emerson in the pecking order, which could mean Lampard would be willing to let one of his left-backs move this month.

Cesar Azpilicueta can also play on the left of a back four if Alonso and Emerson were both offloaded in January.
