Chelsea transfer rumours: Blues interested in Jose Gimenez, Olivier Giroud development

Chelsea's start to the 2020/21 season has been fantastic, with Frank Lampard's side going strong on two fronts.

The Blues are looking to make a title charge this season and catch up to the likes of last campaign's top-two in Liverpool and Manchester City.

As well as this, Lampard's men have already qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League after a practically faultless group stage to date.

But the Chelsea boss will still be looking at the January transfer window as another opportunity to strengthen his squad - and here are the latest rumours concerning the west London-based club.

Blues consider Gimenez move

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are considering a move for Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez.

The Uruguay international was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge earlier this year, before the Blues completed the signing of Thiago Silva. Now, Romano - speaking on the Here We Go podcast - has claimed that Lampard is still interested in the 25-year-old.

Gimenez has played just five times this season for Atletico, which has sparked speculation of an exit from the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Spurs make early move for Giroud

Tottenham have asked to be kept up to date with Olivier Giroud's situation at Chelsea, according to Football Insider.

Giroud is currently the third-choice striker at Stamford Bridge - behind Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner - who have both been in fine form recently.

The 34-year-old's contract expires in the summer and he looks set to leave west London on a free transfer. The report states that Spurs will be one of the many clubs interested in signing the 2018 France World Cup winner.

West Ham tipped to sign Giroud

West Ham United have been tipped to sign Chelsea striker Giroud by Michael Brown.

Brown believes the Hammers will be the 'first in line' to sign the France forward, with a number of clubs reportedly keen.

Talking to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham midfielder said: "You always wonder why is he not playing, why is he not being used? For someone of his quality, there’s going to be clubs (interested).

"He might not want to move out of London, a lot of players who come over want to live in London, it’s a real pull for them. That could give anyone that ‘first in line’ sort of thing. Would West Ham want him? Yes, is the answer."
