Chelsea transfer rumours: Billy Gilmour loan considered, Bayern Munich expect David Alaba exit

Chelsea have started the season in excellent form. But that does not mean that the work has stopped for Frank Lampard and co, who are still hoping to improve their squad.

Chelsea may have spent more than £200million on new talent in the summer, but more recruitment will come, either in January or next summer.

With that in mind, we have an update on a free-transfer target who could be available next summer.

We also have an update on the immediate future of Billy Gilmour, who made his first start of the season this week.

Here is a round-up of all the Chelsea transfer rumours.

Rangers keen on Billy Gilmour loan deal

Rangers are reportedly keen on taking Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan in the January transfer window.

Gilmour made his first start of the season on Tuesday, impressing in the holding midfield position that he hinted could be his own towards the end of last season. And Rangers are now reportedly circling to take him on loan as Chelsea consider how to best aid his development.

Chelsea signed Gilmour from Rangers in 2017, but after undergoing knee surgery and missing four months of action, the SPL leaders have approached the Blues about re-signing him on loan for the remainder of the season, per the Sun.

The report states that Chelsea are open to the proposition as they look to provide Gilmour with the opportunity to play regularly.

Bayern Munich expect David Alaba exit

Bayern Munich now expect David Alaba to depart the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to Sport Bild via Bavarian Football Works.

The report states that talks have broken down between Alaba and the German side, with Bayern withdrawing any contract offer that was previously on the table.

The Austria international, who was ever-present at centre-back in Munich’s treble-winning campaign last year, will be available on a free transfer next summer.

Previous BILD reports claimed that his agent, Pini Zahavi, was planning to talk to overseas clubs in January, once Alaba enters the final six months of his contract. This report corroborates that, claiming that Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona will all enter into discussions with Zahavi.

Chelsea miss out on Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara

Chelsea missed out on Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara in the summer when they approached his agent, Zahavi, per L’Equipe via Sport Witness.

The 21-year-old has been integral to Andre Villas-Boas’ team and Chelsea were keen to add to their youth-focused recruitment.

However, Marseille shut the door on the signing, with Kamara also keen to remain with the French team as they embarked on a Champions League campaign.

Kamara could be available next summer, with a reported value of €35m (£31.5m), when he will also have just one year remaining on his contract.

Meanwhile, the same report claims that Zahavi attempted to secure a deal for his other Marseille-based client, Morgan Sanson, but Chelsea deemed him too old at a position where they did not need to spend.
