Championship club swoop for defender
Sheffield United are hoping to beat Chelsea to the signing of highly-rated Fleetwood Town defender James Hill, it has been reported.
According to the Sheffield Star, the Blades are hoping a familiar face will enable them to get the deal done.
Hill, 19, has been capped three times by England’s under-20 team, and is also reportedly attracting admirers at Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.
But Sheffield United hope to gain the advantage, as James' dad Matt spent two years at Bramall Lane towards the end of his own playing career.
United also hope regular first-team football and his family’s links with South Yorkshire could help them beat the likes of Chelsea to his signature.
