Chelsea transfer round-up: Blues 'lead' Matthijs De Ligt race as Mino Raiola moves goalposts

There could be plenty of ingoings and outgoings at Chelsea in 2022.

Thomas Tuchel's side face the very real prospect of losing several players from their first team squad with the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen's contracts all expiring next summer

That has led to speculation about who the Blues could bring in should any (or all) depart, with several top names linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

One of those names is Dutch international defender Matthijs de Ligt – and Chelsea may be set for success in their pursuit of the Juventus star.

Elsewhere, the club is busy planning for the future and is reportedly ready to go up against some of the top clubs in Europe to secure the signing of a young French forward who has been banging in the goals.

Here are all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Blues target young striker

Chelsea are reportedly ready to go up against the likes of Atletico Madrid and AC Milan to secure the services of young French forward Mohamed-Ali Cho.

The 17-year-old spent time in the youth set-ups at Paris Saint-Germain and Everton, before leaving the Toffees last year to sign his first professional contract back in his home country with Angers.

French publication L’Equipe reports Chelsea have shown an interest in the teenager and have already sent scouts to watch him.

Defender boost

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta is set to stay at Stamford Bridge despite being linked with a move to Barcelona with his contract up at the end of the season, Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones [via Sport Witness ] reports.

That is because, according to the report, an agreement is in place to extend the player's contract a further year.

Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda says there is 'no chance' of Azpilicueta moving back to Spain next summer.

Chelsea 'lead race' for Matthijs de Ligt

Chelsea are 'in the lead' for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, although any potential deal still hinges on one important factor.

The player's agent, Mino Raiola, is desperately trying to negotiate a reduction in his release clause with the Italian giants, according to Tuttosport.

The report states that Raiola wants to lower the €120m release clause in de Ligt's contract from July next year, which could interest the likes of Chelsea.
