Chelsea transfer round-up: Blues eye Antonio Rudiger 'replacement' as Barcelona star linked

Chelsea head into the January transfer window knowing they may need to find a replacement for centre-back Antonio Rudiger.

The German international's contract expires at the end of the season and he will be free to talk to other clubs at the turn of the year.

It has led to the Blues being linked with a number of defenders and the latest reports are suggesting they could move for a Leicester City defender as Rudiger's replacement.

With Ben Chilwell now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury they are also said to be considering a swoop for a Premier League rival's left-back.

And the Blues are also hoping to take advantage of Barcelona's ‘urgent’ need for money by bidding for one of their young stars.

Here are all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Barca star linked

Chelsea are "after the services" of Barcelona star Gavi, it has been reported.

Spanish outlet Super Deporte reports that following their exit from the group stages of the Champions League, Barca are "urgently in need" of money and Chelsea hope to cash in by swooping for 17-year-old midfielder Gavi.

The Stamford Bridge outfit are said to be "already studying offers" they can present to Barcelona for the teenage star, who has been tipped for greatness after coming through the famed La Masia academy.

Rudiger replacement eyed

Chelsea reportedly want to replace Antonio Rudiger with Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana.

According to Goal, Chelsea could make a "big-money deal next summer" if the defender recovers well from the broken fibula and ankle ligament injury that has kept him out so far this season.

The report adds that Leicester could put a "huge asking price" on Fofana, whose contract at the club runs until 2025.

Lucas Digne targeted

Chelsea could swoop for Everton left-back Lucas Digne, with Ben Chilwell set for a spell on the sidelines.

According to The Athletic [via Calciomercato.com ], the Everton player is currently turning heads at Italian sides Inter Milan and Juventus.

But, according to the report, Chelsea have entered the race for the Frenchman's signature ahead of the January transfer window.
