Chelsea transfer plans: The likely signings and exits

Chelsea are closing in on a loan deal for Gonzalo Higuain and hope he will be eligible to face Arsenal on Saturday.

The Blues have agreed a deal with Juventus but must officially register Higuain by 12pm on Friday for the striker to be able to feature against Unai Emery’s side.

The deal hinges on AC Milan finding a replacement, and they are closing in on Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek.

Maurizio Sarri is also in the market for a midfielder as he bids to replace Cesc Fabregas, who sealed his move to Monaco on Friday.

Leandro Paredes and Nicolo Barella are on his wishlist, while £45m Elseid Hysaj is also a target with Davide Zappacosta set to complete a loan move to Lazio.

In terms of departures, Chelsea could wave goodbye to a number of players this month.

They are in advanced talks with Atletico Madrid over a deal for wantaway striker Alvaro Morata, while Callum Hudson-Odoi has been the subject of four bids from Bayern Munich.

Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses are considered surplus to requrements, and Gary Cahill is also set for a loan move away.

Chelsea are now hoping to sell Batshuayi, who has cut his season-long loan short from Valencia, for £40m, but Monaco just want him on a temporary basis for now. Everton are interested, but have yet to make a bid.
