Chelsea transfer news: Michy Batshuayi provides emphatic response to talk of Anderlecht move

Michy Batshuayi has firmly rejected speculation he could leave Chelsea for Anderlecht.

The Belgian striker is battling for first team opportunities with Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud under Frank Lampard this term.

But despite returning from a loan spell with Crystal Palace last term, the 25-year-old has remained the source of rumours with a number of clubs in Europe keen.

But the former Standard Liege star emphatically rejected the possibility of joining the Belgian club’s rivals Anderlecht, as reported by France Football, by posting a picture of himself making a crude gesture.

The picture of Batshuayi dates back to his time with Les Rouges, smiling while aiming a middle finger, though his hand is blocked out with the word ‘LOL’.

Fellow Belgian and former Standard midfielder Axel Witsel replied in support, but some Anderlecht fans reacted angrily.

Batshuayi replied though, insisting the picture was pointed at “journalists who like to invest rumours” and not at Anderlecht fans.

Batshuayi played his first minutes of the season on Saturday, appearing as a substitute with seven minutes remaining in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United.
