Chelsea transfer news: Gonzalo Higuain move up 'in the air' claim AC Milan

AC Milan have cast doubt over Gonzalo Higuain’s move to Chelsea by claiming it is up “in the air.”

The Juventus forward has endured a disappointing loan spell with the Rossoneri, scoring just eight times this season in 22 matches in all competitions.

And assistant manager Luigi Riccio insists he is uncertain about the current status of the Argentine’s move to London.

“As for the transfer market we are all grown-ups, we know how to deal with these situations,” said Riccio.

“It has been in the air for a few days. But we will work with the players at our disposal.”

Should the Blues complete a deal before midday on Wednesday, Maurizio Sarri will have the player at his disposal for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge vs Tottenham.

With a 1-0 deficit, Higuain’s inclusion would be a boost for Sarri after the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend left him furious with his players.

The Argentine’s record vs Spurs is impressive, having scored three and assisted one in three games, including two wins and a draw.

Higuain missed Monday’s 2-0 win over Genoa and last played in the Supercoppa vs Juventus, who won 1-0 in Saudi Arabia.

Higuain’s arrival will almost certainly lead to Alvaro Morata’s departure, with Atletico Madrid lined up should the Blues confirm his replacement.
