Chelsea transfer news: Frank Lampard ready to strengthen team when window opens

Frank Lampard has admitted that he is looking to strengthen his Chelsea squad "in a few areas" when the transfer window opens this summer.

Lampard is still waiting to make his first signing after being appointed Chelsea manager last summer.

A deal for Christian Pulisic has already been agreed when Lampard joined the club, with Mateo Kovacic already at Stamford Bridge on loan when that move was made permanent.

And Lampard is looking forward to putting his own stamp on the team.

He told Chelsea’s official magazine: "I’m certainly excited about the squad we’ve got, with the young players and if we can get a few additions for areas I feel we need.

"We didn’t bring in anyone in January, it didn’t work out to be right for us at the time, and last summer we couldn’t bring anyone in, so those windows are gone and we haven’t changed.

"So I am excited about the squad we’ve got, if we can freshen up in the right areas we all know that."
