Chelsea have plenty of irons in the fire already during this summer transfer window and they may be about to clinch their first deal. There is an expectation that Christopher Nkunku will join the Blues this summer, but one name may be on the door before him.

Reports came out on Wednesday, initially broken by the Evening Standard, that the Blues have opened talks with Villarreal over a possible move for their striker Nicolas Jackson. And now it seems a deal is close, with the Athletic reporting that personal terms have now been agreed.

Path to Moises Caicedo transfer

Brighton have signed their potential replacement for Moises Caicedo, amid interest from Chelsea in the midfielder.

The 21-year-old was a star performer for the Seagulls last season as Roberto De Zerbi’s side sealed European football for the first time in their history. The Ecuadorian looked set to leave Brighton in January, but the south coast club held their nerve, with the midfielder ultimately signing a new contract with the Seagulls.

However, De Zerbi admitted last month that both Caicedo and recent Liverpool signing Alexis Mac Allister could be leaving the club this summer. football.london understands that Chelsea are wary that Caicedo could cost close to £100million . Chelsea agree £34m deal

Chelsea's great midfield rework is underway as Mauricio Pochettino looks set to oversee a number of changes in the squad this summer. A whole host of players are linked with exits as the bloated numbers in the dressing room need cutting down before the new season.

Kovacic appears to be edging even closer as ESPN reports that Kovacic is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester City. Personal terms have already been agreed with the Croatian international, who has just one-year remaining on his deal.

The fee is said to be £34.2million, which will be a handy transfer windfall for the Blues as part of their rebuild in the transfer window.
