Chelsea transfer news: Dujon Sterling joins Wigan on season-long loan

Chelsea starlet Dujon Sterling has joined Wigan on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old wingback spent last season on loan at Coventry and was targeted by a host of Championship clubs this summer.

Despite new Chelsea manager Frank Lampard being prepared to give youth a chance after taking over at Stamford Bridge, the decision has been taken to allow Sterling to continue his development elsewhere.

Sterling has won 39 youth international caps, most recently for England U20s.

The teenager was part of the England U19 side that won the European Championships in 2017 and was named in the team of the tournament.

He twice won the FA Youth Cup with Chelsea as well as the UEFA Youth League on two occasions.

Dujon has been handed the No15 shirt at Wigan.
