Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia faces big contract decisions on 10 players

Chelsea currently have 10 players whose contracts at Stamford Bridge are set to expire later this year.

While a number of those are players that are either out on loan or out of favour under Frank Lampard, the futures of both Thiago Silva and Olivier Giroud will both need sorting in the coming months, with Giroud being linked with a move away from London in this January transfer window.

Besides Silva and Giroud, Willy Caballero, Izzy Brown and Marco van Ginkel are the highest-profile players who are set to become free agents later this year.

Although only a couple of the Blues ’ top names are currently on short contracts, a large number have current deals that have less than 18 months left on them. Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta is currently set to see his contract expire at the end of June 2022, alongside Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Emerson.

A significant number of the Blues’s current outcasts also see their deals expire next year, including Danny Drinkwater, Victor Moses, Davide Zappacosta and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Summer signings Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, Malang Sarr and Edouard Mendy all signed deals until 2025 when joining the Blues in 2020.
