Chelsea transfer ban: When Blues fans will get Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal result

It might have gone unnoticed with all the Jose Mourinho news this morning, but Chelsea are having their transfer ban appeal heard today (November 20).

Blues supporters were shocked when Tottenham Hotspur announced that their ex-boss is now the head coach of their London rivals, Spurs.

But really the focus has to be on Chelsea right now in what is set to be a big day for the club with the Court of Arbitration for Sport hearing their appeal for the FIFA transfer ban.

Back in February, the Blues were slapped with a two-window ban after FIFA determined that they had broken regulations over the transfer of minors.

Chelsea have denied any wrongdoing.

But today (Wednesday) the case is to be heard by CAS, with their original appeal to FIFA having been rejected.

So when could the result actually come for the Blues and their fans, with the January transfer window just around the corner?

In an ordinary case, the procedure could take between six to 12 months for a decision to be made.

However, in special circumstances, and likely to be in the case of Chelsea, the decision could be made quicker with the January transfer window just around the corner.

CAS has the ability to speed up decisions and a verdict for this particular case is expected in December.

Chelsea are hoping that the transfer window will be reduced to one window, meaning that they will be able to sign new players in January.

CAS will not extend the length of the ban but in the case of Barcelona back in 2014, after the Catalan side broke similar rules to Chelsea, they threw the case out.

However, Blues fans, either one way or the other, will find out the result before the January transfer window opens.
