Chelsea transfer ban: Frank Lampard reacts after Blues handed CAS appeal date ahead of January window

Frank Lampard admits he is content with the squad he has despite the potential for Chelsea to reduce their transfer ban ahead of the January window.

The Blues were handed a date by CAS for their appeal against a Fifa ban for November 20.

The Londoners have denied any wrongdoing despite being accused of breaking rules to sign youth players from abroad.

After welcoming back Christian Pulisic from his loan back to Borussia Dortmund following the initial deal in January, Lampard has utilised youth to freshen up his squad and admits he is happy with his current options, but will reassess their strategy for January after the appeal has been heard.

“Very interested. But I have no comment right now, I don’t know enough of the legals to delve,” Lampard remarked.

“It can affect what we can do, but it is a little down my list. We have Ajax and Palace.

“We are on a good run. It is a nice feeling (that some fans don’t want ban overturned). We will always look to improve if we can, but I am very happy with what I’ve got.”

The Blues host Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday, with the two clubs tied on six points at the top of Group H.

A 1-0 victory out in Amsterdam was one of a record seven-game win streak away from home and now Lampard will aim to pick up his first home win in Europe.
