Chelsea transfer ban: Frank Lampard calms Chelsea fans' fears over squad issues

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard took over the reigns yesterday and he is fully aware of the job that he has at his disposal.

With the Blues losing Eden Hazard, it is going to be a difficult season for their new head coach and there is going to be some need to rebuild.

However, Chelsea are not going to be able to do that by buying players this summer as they are still in the middle of a two-window transfer ban.

At the moment, the Blues are unable to register new players, meaning that Lampard will have to use the players he already has from last season's squad, while also including those returning from loan.

That will give Lampard a plethora of talent to pick from, however some believe that the Blues will not have enough quality to maintain a challenge for next season.

However, Lampard is looking forward to not having to deal with agents this summer and believes his current squad can cope.

"The bonus [of the transfer ban] is I’ll have quite a calm July," Lampard said. "At Derby last year, every day there were agents ringing me all over the place. It’s quite a nice footing for me.

"If I came into a squad I felt was short that would be a huge problem. I don’t think it is. It does change the landscape slightly, of course, because we’ll see teams improve.

"Man City have broken their record. Man United, Liverpool, Tottenham are buying players. Teams are going to improve. The important thing for us is not to focus on what everyone else is doing it’s what we can do here.

"I’m new into the hot seat. I know we’ve got a good squad and a lot of really good young talent.

"That’s certainly becomes a big focus of the year. First is to be competitive but second, can we put some faith in the young players and see if they can get into the first team and show what they can do.I believe there are some there.

"Not all of them, some might try and it might not work it’s also a test for the older players to rise to that as well."
