Chelsea, Tottenham and Man United handed Moussa Dembele boost as Lyon agree striker deal

Chelsea are eager to make strides in the January transfer window in regards to improving the quality of their squad and Moussa Dembele is a name that won't go away.

It doesn't matter how many times that Lyon denies that Dembele is going to leave France, the rumour mill continues to go into overdrive.

This is especially true because of the fact that Lyon are aiming to be one of the most active teams this month in the transfer market, something which could turn out to be a good thing for Chelsea.

Lyon already have some well known attackers but they are bidding to bolster their depth if reports are to be believed.

Le Havre attacker Tino Kadewere has been one of the recent players linked with the club but now another name has popped up and it could be great news for the Premier League clubs linked with Dembele, with Manchester United and Tottenham also been touted with a move for the former Celtic striker.

L'Equipe claim that Lyon have struck a loan deal with a €20 million (£17m) obligation to buy with Villarreal for forward Karl Toko Ekambi.

But this is also something which has been previously denied by President Jean-Michel Aulas. Should a deal eventually go through, it could represent a shift in what Lyon are planning to do this month.

Aulas has also denied that Dembele is set to leave, with the 70-year-old explaining earlier this month that the former Celtic star is staying put.

He told RMC: "We have not changed our minds. We already made this issue clear in August.

"Moussa is an excellent player. A player who we need. We are taking explicit measures in our recruitment to not bring someone in who will compete for his position.

"It is not a question of money. Moussa will be with us."
