Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea, is ‘made for English football’ according to Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan.
The 22-year-old could be set to leave Juve in the summer after his agent Mino Raiola told Dutch news outlet NRC ‘he is ready for a new step’ in his fledgling career.
Chelsea are a rumoured destination for De Ligt with the club set to lose Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen on free transfers in the summer unless they sign new deals.
Van de Kraan has followed the Dutchman’s career particularly when he was at Ajax and likened his compatriot to Virgil van Dijk.
“The player has actually been surprised that none of the big Premier League clubs have knocked on the door," he told talkSPORT.
“I think Matthijs de Ligt is absolutely made for English football. He is an absolute force.
“You have another Van Dijk coming to the Premier League if you get Matthijs de Ligt.”
The Netherlands international joined Juve from Ajax in a £67.5m deal in the summer of 2019, during his time in Turin he’s won one Serie A title and a Coppa Italia.
However, it is believed the Italian giants are open to selling the Dutchman as they continue to adjust to the huge losses they've incurred during the coronavirus pandemic.
