Chelsea told to pay £50m for Chilwell transfer replacement as major Haaland decision made

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Thursday, December 30.

Chelsea told Hernandez price tag

Following the news that Ben Chilwell is set to miss the rest of the season for Chelsea, the Blues have since been looking for a replacement for the England man.

One of those reportedly under consideration is AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez. However, any deal for the Frenchman is set to be an expensive one.

According to Tuttosport, the Rossoneri have put a €60m (£50m) price tag on the former Real Madrid man - a sum that Chelsea might find somewhat too high in the January market.

Dortmund set Haaland deadline

Whilst the Blues are obviously keen to add to their defensive options, suggestions remain that Thomas Tuchel wants to bolster his Chelsea attack.

One of the candidates to do just that is Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland - and his future could be set to become clearer sooner rather than later.

According to Bild, die Schwarzgelben are set to open talks over a new deal in January but have set a deadline of February for the Norwegian’s decision.

It remains to be seen which route Haaland will pick but his immediate future will of course be clearer no matter what.

John Terry seals Chelsea return

One arrival at Chelsea that has already been confirmed is the return of Blues icon John Terry.

The former defender has been appointed as coaching consultant with the academy at Cobham on a part-time basis.

The Blues announced his appointment with a statement on Wednesday, with the 41-year-old expected to start work immediately following his exit from Aston Villa earlier this year.
