Chelsea to face Crystal Palace in FA Cup semi-finals with Man City handed Liverpool clash

Crystal Palace were rewarded for their 4-0 romp past Everton with an FA Cup semi-final tie against Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel’s Blues have reached the final of the competition in four of the past five seasons, although have only lifted the cup once in that period.

Saturday’s trip to giant-killing Middlesbrough was smoothly dealt with by Chelsea, thanks to first-half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech.

Palace, meanwhile, dispatched Everton courtesy of goals from Marc Guehi, Jean-Philippe Mateta, an unusual Wilfried Zaha rebound and a late Will Hughes sealer.

In the other tie, Manchester City were handed the winner of Sunday’s quarter-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. The Reds prevailed 1-0 after a late Diogo Jota goal.

Pep Guardiola has only lifted the FA Cup once yet this will be his team’s fourth consecutive trip to the semi-finals, after a 4-1 win over Southampton on Sunday.

When the Premier League’s top two meet, it will come just a week after their top-flight showdown at the Etihad Stadium. The two ties will be played on April 16 and 17.
