Chelsea to complete first summer deal as 'contact' is made for Robert Lewandowski transfer

Here's all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Chelsea 'make contact' over Robert Lewandowski transfer

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is on Chelsea's shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

That is according to German news outlet Sky Sport as they claim contact has been made with the Poland international who has scored 47 goals across all competitions this season.

Lewandowski is just the latest name in a long line of strikers being linked with moves to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2021/22 season along with the likes of Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland and Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku.

But it would appear that the 32-year-old is their first-choice option as the aforementioned report states he could follow Kai Havertz and Timo Werner in swapping the Bundesliga for the Premier League.

However, there's one problem Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia must overcome to sign Lewandowski.

And that's getting the striker to change his mind as he reportedly favours a move to Spain over England.

Player ratings vs Leicester City

Chelsea have taken another huge step towards sealing a top-four spot with victory over Leicester City.

Second half goals from Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho was the perfect response to losing the FA Cup final against the Foxes as well as last week's surprising 1-0 home defeat by Arsenal.

It means the Blues now move on to 67 points after 37 games.

And Champions League qualification is still in Thomas Tuchel side's hands ahead of the final day clash with Aston Villa as they just need to match Leicester's result against Tottenham.

Not for the first time this season, Mason Mount scored high in the ratings, as did Rudiger and Timo Werner who had two goals ruled out and worked his socks off up front.

But how did the rest of the team fare?

Thiago Silva agreement

Thiago Silva looks set to extend his Chelsea stay by another 12 months.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Blues are set to reach an agreement with the defender and that the paperwork for the one-year contract-extension will be completed after the Champions League final.

Once confirmed, this will be Chelsea's first deal of the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian has impressed since joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, becoming a key figure in the Blues' back-line, first under Frank Lampard and after being reunited with Thomas Tuchel.

Silva's experience and leadership has put Chelsea on the brink of sealing a top-four spot in the Premier League and has played a key role in the team reach the Champions League final.
