Chelsea to appoint new chief executive as Tom Glick exits after just 10 months

Chelsea are set hire Chris Jurasek as their new chief executive, with president of business Tom Glick expected to depart after only 10 months at Stamford Bridge.

Jurasek’s arrival represents further upheaval in a chaotic first year since owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake completed their takeover.

Co-controlling Chelsea owner Behdad Eghbali, one of the founders of Clearlake Capital, is moving Jurasek over from his private equity business to help ease the turbulence at the club.

Chelsea, who are on the verge of appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach, have declined to comment on whether Glick has resigned but sources deny he was forced out.

The former Manchester City executive only joined Chelsea last July.

Chelsea recently brought in an external law firm to assess whether Glick acted appropriately after being accused of dismissing complaints by a female football agent.

Catalina Kim complained about historical messages of a sexual nature from Damian Willoughby, a commercial director that Glick brought in from City Football Group.

Those complaints led to Willoughby’s sacking and, after Chelsea took those complaints seriously, a law firm interviewed both Kim and Glick to investigate the incident further.

Chelsea have yet to release the findings of the investigation and declined to comment on the report’s contents.

No start date for Jurasek has been communicated but he will eventually take over Glick’s role, leading all non-football-related activity at Stamford Bridge.

His remit will include ensuring a lucrative new front-of-shirt sponsor is secured for next season, and will cover all commercial activity.
