Frank Lampard has made three changes to the Chelsea team that faces West Ham United at Stamford Bridge this evening, with Jorginho coming in for Kai Havertz in midfield and Tammy Abraham replacing Olivier Giroud up top.
Hakim Ziyech is not in the squad but Callum Hudson-Odoi has been named on the extended substitutes' bench.
As expected Reece James also drops out of the XI that began the 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers six days ago, the right back having a scan on a knee injury over the weekend. Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta steps in to his place in an otherwise unchanged back four.
In his pre-match press conference at the tail end of last week, Lampard said that Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi had returned to training with their team-mates on Friday but the head coach was not certain either would be fit enough to feature against David Moyes's side.
"I'll have to see how they are in the next few days if they are to make West Ham," was Lampard's brief assessment on Friday afternoon, before the news of James's injury was leaked.
Ziyech injured a hamstring in the win at home to Leeds United three weeks ago but has recovered well and should be in contention to face Arsenal away on Boxing Day.
Hudson-Odoi's hamstring issue cropped up during training.
