Chelsea team confirmed vs Burnley: Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva start, Timo Werner benched

Frank Lampard has made a handful of alterations for Chelsea's Premier League clash away at Burnley.

Travelling to Russia during the week for Wednesday's Champions League game against Krasnodar, the head coach was always going to make changes for the match in Lancashire after claiming he had a "tired group" following the long trip.

One of his changes for the match sees Thiago Silva back in the starting XI after he remained in the capital instead of travelling with the rest of the squad for the European clash.

Hakim Ziyech is handed his first Premier League start after impressing in midweek, while Timo Werner drops down to the bench.

Going into the game in 10th position in the league following three draws in their last four games, the Blues desperately need to get back to winning ways as they bid to challenge towards the top of the league.

However, Lampard knows his side will have to be at their best to leave with the points in the bag despite Burnley losing four of their five league games so far

"Yes, I would always respect a Burnley team managed by Sean Dyche with the qualities that they have," said Lampard when asked if he expected a tough game against the Clarets.

"I watched the game against Tottenham and they were very unfortunate to not take anything from the game against a very good Tottenham team.

"It was everything you would expect from Burnley in terms of their organisation, effort, desire and qualities.

"I think you can pigeon hole Burnley, I don’t. I know they have quality players, a very effective way of playing and a quality manager so I expect a tough match."

Here is the team Lampard has selected to face Burnley:

Chelsea XI: Mendy; James, Silva, Zouma, Chilwell; Kante, Mount, Havertz; Pulisic, Ziyech, Abraham.

Substitutes: Caballero, Rudiger. Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Hudson-Odoi, Werner, Giroud.
