Chelsea target suffers serious injury set-back as La Liga club confirm fracture

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Real Madrid's Luka Jovic, however the striker has suffered an injury set-back.

Real Madrid announced this afternoon (Friday) that the Serbia international has broken his foot.

The Spanish club have been back in light training as La Liga looks to decide on whether the league will return due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The 22-year-old made the move from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer after a stunning season for the Bundesliga club.

However, it hasn't quite worked out for the striker as he has started just four La Liga matches and made another 11 appearances off the bench, netting just twice.

The statement from Real Madrid read: "After the tests carried out today on our player Luka Jović by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with an extra-articular fracture in the calcaneus bone of the right foot."

Blues had been linked with a potential loan move for the striker, who against them in both legs of the Europa League semi-final last season.

However, that could be in doubt, with the Spanish club's announcement and also the full extent and lay-off time for the injury unknown.
