Chelsea target Real Madrid star after being quoted Ben Chilwell transfer fee

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing up a move for Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon if they are unable to complete a deal to sign Leicester's Ben Chilwell.

Their manager Frank Lampard is known to be a huge fan of Chilwell, who has impressed for the Foxes this season, scoring three goals and creating three assists in the Premier League this season.

As revealed by Mirror Sport earlier this week, however, Leicester have told Chelsea they would have to pay even more than the £80m they sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United for last summer if they wish to land the England international.

With the Blues already splashing out close to £100m on Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, and with the likes of Kai Havertz also strongly linked, they therefore may not be able to afford Chilwell.

And according to Marca Reguilon could be a potentially cheaper option to fill in at full-back if offers for Chilwell are rebuffed.

The 23-year-old came through the academy at Madrid but has struggled to break into the first-team, and spent the season on loan at Sevilla where he made 34 appearances in all competitions.

Chelsea are likely to face competition for the player, with Sevilla keen to extend his loan for another season, while fellow Premier League club Everton are also keeping tabs on his situation.

And a number of teams from the Bundesliga and and Serie A are also thought to be monitoring his progress.

With Chelsea's attacking options looking strong, Lampard is now focusing on the defence, with a new goalkeeper also a priority.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are ageing, meaning he especially needs left-sided players, and Reguilon could certainly be an intriguing prospect for the future.
