Chelsea supporters noticed what Jorginho did after scoring his first goal against Ajax

Jorginho was one of Chelsea's heroes against Ajax on Tuesday night.

The midfielder netted two penalties as the Blues fought back from 4-1 down to claim a point against the nine-man Dutch champions in one of the most entertaining Champions League games in recent years.

But it's not the goals which impressed supporters the most.

Not too long ago Jorginho was confirmed as the new Blues vice-captain by head coach Frank Lampard in a decision which was greeted positively among a large number of supporters.

And the leadership qualities mentioned by Lampard were on show against Ajax.

With the hosts trailing after two minutes thanks to Tammy Abraham's unfortunate own-goal, the Italy international took responsibility of taking the penalty when Christian Pulisic was brought down.

He did the same in the second half after the visitors had been reduced to nine-men.

But it was Jorginho's actions following his first penalty of the night which a number of Chelsea fans have picked up on and simply loved.

As spotted on Reddit, the midfielder seems to be gesturing to his teammates to keep their chins up after the early setback.

As mentioned above, one person who won't have been surprised by Jorginho's classy gesture is Lampard.

"I've got to say, I watched him in a lot of the games in the run-in last year - I know he had a bit of a tough time - but I was really struck by his bravery on the ball," Lampard told Sky Sports. "He always wanted it.

"I was excited to work with him, and from day one in pre-season, we had a possession game, it was clear his ability on the ball.

"What's become even clearer since then, his attitude and what he does with the group, he's driven.

"That's why I've made him vice-captain. He's one of those infectious players, he cajoles players on the pitch, before the game. I've loved to see the fans' reaction to him.

Frank Lampard delighted with Chelsea's spirit

"One thing a fan will always do - and I'm a fan - is that when you see someone giving everything, passion, drive, they will always react to that.

"You've seen that with Jorginho."
