Chelsea supporter arrested for alleged racist abuse of Tottenham's Son Heung-min

One Chelsea supporter has been arrested for allegedly racially abusing Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min.

The incident is said to have occurred during the second half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and that the South Korea international was unaware of the abuse.

But the incident was reported to the authorities by Chelsea fans nearby.

As of writing, it's unclear if the arrested fan has been charged by the policie.

But the matter is being dealt with.

"Police were made aware of alleged racist chanting during the second half of the Tottenham vs Chelsea match on Sunday, 22 December," a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said.

"Officers will work with the club in an attempt to identify any people responsible."

Unfortunately, this was not the only incident of racial abuse during the London derby.

Blues defender Antonio Rudiger reported that he was racially abused during the second half, shortly after Son had been sent off for a challenge on him.

He then took to social media to hit out the offenders.

"It is really sad to see racism again at a football match, but I think it's very important to talk about it in public," he wrote on his Twitter account. "If not, it will be forgotten again in a couple of days (as always).

"I don't want to involve Tottenham as an entire club into this situation as I know that just a couple of idiots were the offenders. I got a lot of supportive messages on social media from Spurs fans as well in the last hours - thank you a lot for this.

"I really hope that the offenders will be found and punished soon, and in such a modern football ground like the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with dozens of TV and security cameras, it must be possible to find and subsequently punish them.

"If not, then there must have been witnesses in the stadium who saw and heard the incident. It's just such a shame that racism still exists in 2019. When will this nonsense stop?"
