Chelsea suffer N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell injury blows during Juventus Champions League clash

Chelsea have been handed worrying injury blows against Juventus with both N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell forced off the pitch.

The Frenchman, who was selected to start in the heart of midfield against the Italian giants, was withdrawn before half-time for the Blues and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

He went straight down the Stamford Bridge tunnel as the Blues lost one of their key players for the remainder of the tie against Juve.

It remains to be seen how serious his injury is but there was a positive in that the midfielder was able to walk off of the field by himself. Nevertheless, it will put his inclusion for the weekend in doubt with Chelsea set to take on Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

The same could not be said for Chilwell, however, who appeared in some discomfort after going down under a challenge holding his right knee. The left-back didn't require a stretcher, but did have to be helped off by medical staff as he was in clear discomfort.

The pair add to Thomas Tuchel’s somewhat worrying list of injuries with the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz already ruled out, whilst Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have only just returned from their respective problems.

Kante himself has also been suffering with a number of problems throughout the season. He missed a few games with a groin injury, whilst also being left on the sidelines having tested positive for Covid-19.

Chelsea fans have already been expressing their concern at the prospect of losing Kante ahead of this weekend’s clash against the Red Devils.
