Chelsea suffer major injury blow during Champions League clash with Valencia

Chelsea suffered an injury blow just before half-time of their Champions League clash with Valencia.

Tammy Abraham suffered a collision right ahead of the break, and it looked like the 22-year-old was going to have to come off.

However, it got even worse with the medics then bringing out the stretcher for the striker, with the rest of the players having already gone down the tunnel for half-time.

The incident happened after he went for a header with Ezequiel Garay, but ended up in a heap and was holding his hip as he was being, gingerly, walked around the side of the pitch.

Abraham was then helped on to a stretcher before being carried down the tunnel to receive more treatment.

During the break, Michy Batshuayi went through his warm ups as he prepared to replace the striker, who has already netted ten goals for the Blues in the Premier League.

Tammy Abraham on Championship to Champions League journey

Batshuayi would have been hoping to get one over his former side, having had a poor spell on loan with Valencia last season.

It comes as a big blow to the Blues, who have West Ham on Saturday before Aston Villa during the week.

We'll have more on the Abraham injury after the match in the Mestalla.
