Chelsea suffer Edouard Mendy injury blow ahead of Champions League final vs Man City

Chelsea have been dealt an injury blow ahead of the Champions League showdown with Manchester City.

Edouard Mendy - the club's first-choice goalkeeper - was forced off at half-time of their game against Aston Villa after picking up an injury, before Jorginho conceded a penalty.

The extent of the problem has not yet been revealed - but it was an issue that proved sufficient enough for him to be replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga upon the restart.

Mendy has made 30 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit during his debut Premier League season.

If passed fit, the Frenchman - a £21.6million signing from Rennes last summer - is almost certain to start against City, even though understudy Kepa was handed the gloves for the FA Cup final defeat to Leicester.
