Chelsea striker trolls Arsenal over Gunnersaurus decision

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has joined in the reaction to the news that London rivals Arsenal have parted company with their much-loved mascot Gunnersaurus.

It has been reported that the Gunners have decided to dispense with the dinosaur character, and Jerry Quy, who brought it to life for the past 27 years.

Arsenal fans are not happy with the cost-cutting measure, while former stars Ian Wright and Paul Merson have also voiced their disappointment over the move.

And Batshuayi, on loan at Crystal Palace, posted a photograph on Twitter of him greeting Belgium's Red Devil mascot as he arrived for international duty, along with the caption: "And this is how you treat your team mascot."

The post prompted quite a response, with @MulaMoraes replying: "Hahaha shots fired."

Meanwhile, @diplexbug said: "Oh behave," with @Sethakande adding: "Michy why so fresh?"

Batshuayi has found his first-team chances limited at Chelsea, leaving on various loan deals, most recently to Crystal Palace, where he is spending a second season.

On mischievous tweeter, @rehnato, said: "You’ve been a mascot at the clubs you been in the last 5 years, you should know well."

To which, Batshuayi replied: "I'll take the L here but Twitter knows," before adding: "No this is why I love Twitter, it's just banter and fun never personal."
