Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham reveals how he watched the second half against Valencia despite injury

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has revealed how he watched the end of the Valencia match after being substituted due to a hip injury.

Abraham was eventually stretchered off at half-time after landing awkwardly on his hip towards the end of the first half.

The 22-year-old was in plenty of pain at the time, but says that he is hoping that the injury is just bruising, and he will undergo scans and an X-ray back in London.

Abraham told Chelsea TV that he was forced to watch the match on his mobile phone from the changing room, and that the experience left quite an impact on him.

"It was [an incredible game]," Abraham said. "I went in the changing room and I was watching it on my phone, but my phone was a couple of minutes behind.

"So I could hear everything from the fans, the reactions and all sorts, and I was watching it and I was just shaking. I wish obviously that I didn't get injured and that I was still out there."

Abraham stated that he was pleased for Mateo Kovacic to finally get off the mark for Chelsea, and that the team are happy that qualification for the knockout stages is still in their hands with a win against Lille at Stamford Bridge enough to see them through.

"We are [pleased with a point]," he added. "We knew coming here was never gonna be easy. We had to stick together. Even though it looked like we had won the game at the end when Christian scored. But they're a top side and they created a lot of chances. But now it's in our hands to just go out there and win the next game [to qualify].

"I was [very pleased for Mateo Kovacic]. I was not sure about the celebration, but everyone was delighted for him. He deserves it, he played outstandingly today. The goal just tops it off. The rest of the boys - everyone gave a great performance, so a good result at the end.

"It's a massive one. For me it's always been a dream to play in the Champions League and I don't want it to end here in the group stages, I want to push on further and I'm sure all of us want to as well. It's good that it's in our hands back at the Bridge."
