Chelsea striker delivers transfer boost to Frank Lampard amid talk of exit

Michy Batshuayi is set to stay at Chelsea this summer and fight for his place in the side under Frank Lampard.

The Belgian has been rumoured to be linked with a loan switch back to Crystal Palace, however football.london understands that Batshuayi is looking to stay with the Blues.

The 25-year-old has struggled to nail down a place in the first team for the Blues, being sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Palace in the last 18 months.

Batshuayi has been part of the first team plans over the summer, scoring against Bohemians in Ireland and against RB Salzburg in their penultimate match.

However, talk of a move away intensified after the Belgian was left out of the squad for the final pre-season match against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Both AS Monaco and Palace have been linked with another loan move for the Belgian, but Batshuayi wants to fight for his place in Lampard's starting team.

At the moment, it looks likely that Tammy Abraham will be given the starting position against Manchester United, starting both of the last two pre-season matches.

Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud is still trying to get a place in the team, having to sit on the bench for much of last season under Maurizio Sarri.

With a 4-2-3-1 formation the likely choice of Lampard, it might be tough for Bathsuayi to battle his way into the side straight away.

However, Batshuayi is ready to try and win over the new head coach this season.
