Chelsea still have 14 transfers to complete despite busy start to summer

Chelsea have been so busy already in this summer transfer window, but there is still so much business left for the club to conduct over the next couple of months.

The transfer window has officially only been open for two weeks but already the Blues have completed 15 deals – incomings and outgoings. But with how big Chelsea's squad was last season, there are still a number of deals to be done between now and the end of the window. That's not even to mention possible incomings.

Outgoings – Who could leave Chelsea?

There are a whole host of players Chelsea will consider loaning out next season so they can get some senior experience elsewhere. Gabriel Slonina is one of them. The 19-year-old goalkeeper signed last summer but is yet to feature for the first-team.

The American could possibly return to the United States to get some much-needed minutes, or perhaps Chelsea will look for a European move for the highly-rated shot-stopper. Slonina is a fabulous talent so there is bound to be plenty of interest.

David Datro Fofana, likewise, could be loaned out for the 2023/24 campaign. The Ivorian striker signed in the January transfer window from Molde but barely featured in the first-team in the second half of the season.

There are a few players who you may have forgotten about in Malang Sarr, Ethan Ampadu and Baba Rahman. Sarr spent last season on loan at Monaco and could be sold this summer as he does not appear to be in the club's long-term plans.

Meanwhile, Ampadu was at Spezia on loan and with 12 months remaining on his Chelsea contract, the club are expected to sell the 22-year-old this summer. Rahman is also expected to be sold, with the left-back going out on loan seven times during his Chelsea career.

Chelsea will also be looking to offload the likes of Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the coming weeks. Pulisic wants to leave the club, football.london understands, and AC Milan have shown interest in the American winger in recent days.

Ziyech, meanwhile, was on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. However, the move looks to have collapsed over concerns regarding his hip and knee. Chelsea, though, will still look to sell Ziyech, who also wants to move from Stamford Bridge, before the summer transfer window closes.

Lukaku wants to depart Chelsea as well with the Belgian due to return from his season-long loan spell at Inter Milan. The Blues will want to get as much back as possible from the £97.5million they spent on him in 2021 which could be the stumbling block in seeing the striker leave permanently this summer. There is, however, the possibility of another loan spell. Inter are said to be interested in taking Lukaku for another season.

Aubameyang is expected to end his nightmare one-year spell at Stamford Bridge. Signed by Thomas Tuchel last summer, Aubameyang failed to convince during his limited opportunities at the club and with 12 months remaining on his deal, the striker is set to leave before the start of next season.

Trevoh Chalobah could also leave. His camp recently held talks with Inter over a move to the San Siro, football.london understands. Cesar Azpilicueta is expected to join Atletico Madrid, while Mason Mount looks set for Manchester United.

Chelsea will listen to offers for Conor Gallagher. Tottenham are one of numerous Premier League clubs with an interest in the England international. Likewise, Callum Hudson-Odoi could be put up for sale. The Cobham graduate has interest from Nottingham Forest, a source has told football.london.

Incomings – Who could Chelsea sign?

As widely reported, Chelsea have made Moises Caicedo their number one target for central midfield. football.london has been told to expect a push from the club in the next week or so as they reopen talks with Brighton over a possible deal for the Ecuador international.

Chelsea and the midfielder have verbally agreed on personal terms but the real issue will be agreeing on a price with the Seagulls. Brighton, who are notoriously tough negotiators, want around £80million for the midfielder's signature but Chelsea would rather not pay such a sum straight up, so the structure of the deal is expected to be significant.

Romeo Lavia remains on the club's radar. Chelsea and Southampton held talks recently over a possible deal. However, there is mass interest from elsewhere in the former Manchester City midfielder.

The club are also looking at adding a new goalkeeper to their ranks with Mike Maignan of AC Milan and Inter Milan's Andre Onana both options being looked at. Maignan is seen as a more difficult deal to strike than Onana but as of the time of writing, there has been no significant progress with either in terms of getting a deal done.

A central striker has been on the agenda in the opening couple of weeks of the transfer window. With Chelsea signing Nicolas Jackson last week, though, it remains to be seen whether the club will look at adding a more experienced No.9 as well as the Senegal international.
