Chelsea step up pre-season preparations ahead of opening friendly this weekend

Chelsea stepped up their pre-season preparations as the Blues trained at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard took the session today (Thursday) instead of the usual training ground of Cobham as the Blues play their first match of the summer tomorrow.

The Blues will travel to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, the same opponents they will take on in their opening Premier League game of the 2019/20 campaign.

Chelsea got their summer training under way this week, however without several of their players who are either injured or self-isolating due to COVID-19.

Tomorrow's friendly is expected to be the first time that Chelsea fans will get the chance to see two of their new signings in a Blues shirt.

Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have been with the squad since before the end of last season and will be travelling to the AMEX Stadium.

Chelsea have been busy in the market, with Thiago Silva being the latest to join this week, with Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell also having made the switch to Stamford Bridge.

However, only Werner and Ziyech are expected to play in the game on the South Coast this weekend.
