Chelsea stars send message to David Luiz after defeat to Liverpool and Arsenal signing agrees

David Luiz has received messages of support from both Arsenal players and his former Chelsea teammates after his performance against Liverpool.

The Gunners arrived at Anfield with a hundred percent record having won both their Premier League matches, but Unai Emery's side were brought back to earth with a 3-1 defeat.

Luiz was signed from Chelsea in the summer as a replacement for Laurent Koscielny and to shore up Arsenal's backline, but the defender looked far from comfortable on Saturday against Mohamed Salah.

The defender needlessly pulled Salah's shirt in the second half to concede a penalty which the Egyptian duly converted to double Liverpool's lead.

Unai Emery: Arsenal showed 'character' against Liverpool

Salah then glided past Luiz far too easily to slot home his second of the match and secure all three points.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Luiz thanked fans for their support and made it clear he is ready for the challenge ahead at the Emirates Stadium.

He wrote: "Life is tough and football is tough also sometimes!!!

"But I know one thing, I will never give up!!

"Was always like that my life... I came here with a goal, and I will fight until the end for that!!!"

Former Chelsea teammate Emerson Palmieri wrote: "You are a monster" in Portuguese while Tammy Abraham and Reece James posted heart and praying emojis respectively.

Granit Xhaka and Alexandre Lacazette also showed their support, with the latter commenting: "Together bro".

Summer signing Gabriel Martinelli wrote: "You are beast, brother" in Portuguese.

Arsenal face Tottenham this weekend in the north London derby, providing Luiz with the perfect opportunity to bounce back from his nightmare on Merseyside.
