Chelsea starlet reveals classy Andy Robertson message following Liverpool clash

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has revealed he spoke to Liverpool star Andy Robertson following last month’s FA Cup clash.

The Reds suffered a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in the fifth round of the competition, with Willian and Ross Barkley providing the goals.

While Robertson and Gilmour were on opposing sides on the capital last month, the pair could be on the same side in the future for the Scotland national team.

Robertson is captain of his country, while Gilmour is yet to earn his first senior cap – and the Chelsea youngster has revealed what the Reds full-back said to him after the final whistle at Stamford Bridge.

"After the Liverpool game, I swapped shirts with Andy Robertson,” Gilmour told Sky Sports.

“He came up to me after the game and said 'well done, you played really well, keep doing it and hopefully see you soon in the first-team squad'.

"That was great to hear that from the captain of the country. I then asked him if we could swap shirts and he said 'no problem, let's do it inside' so that was me buzzing."

Gilmour added: "Everyone knows my feelings about representing my country.

"Hopefully I'm not far off it. I just need to keep working hard and see where it takes me."
