Chelsea star Willian turns down £30m pay day as he rejects mega-money transfer

Chelsea star Willian has turned down a huge offer from China and looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The winger was offered a £17.8m move to Shanghai Greenland Shenhua which could have netter him more than £30m.

But the Brazil ace, currently at the Copa America, has now interest in accepting their lucrative offer, which included a rented flat, two chauffeur-driven cars and extra cash for plane tickets.

The three-year deal also featuring appearance, goal and title bonuses would have amounted to a huge increase on top of the £10.8m-a-year basic salary he was offered.

The 30-year-old is entering the last year of his contract and has also been linked with a surprise move to Barcelona or Atletico Madrid yet looks set to sign a new contract with the west London club.

Neither Spanish club have lodged an official bid despite their rumoured interest, and Chelsea cannot afford to lose Willian given the departure of Eden Hazard and their transfer embargo.

Despite not being a regular starter, Willian bagged eight goals and 14 assists in all competitions as the Blues finished third in the Premier League and won the Europa League.

He is expected to compete with Pedro and Christian Pulisic for a starting spot, as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi when he returns from injury.

He is expected to pen a two-year deal having made his intentions to remain in the Premier League clear.

Hazard's departure and their transfer embargo have placed them in a tricky situation, although the arrival of Pulisic and Willian opting to stay is a boost to their strength in the wide positions.
